Numero Uno is proud to support the Rainforest Alliance’s Sustainable Coffee Program and is dedicated to purchasing coffee produced according to internationally recognised social and environmental standards.

Numero Uno introduces our new range of exotic coffee blends containing 100% Rainforest Alliance certified coffees from Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. All our coffees are guaranteed 100% ‘high grade’ Arabica, incorporating coffee beans from our own estate in Honduras.

Rainforest Alliance-certified coffee, acclaimed both for its gourmet taste and its assurances for protection of workers and the environment are well balanced in acidity with full flavour, excellent crema and smooth in taste.

La Verde blend makes an exceptional espresso coffee or try our estate Panama single origin for plunger, stove top or espresso.

The Rainforest Alliance ensures that the high quality beans we buy are produced in harmony with wildlife and healthy ecosystems. On certified farms, workers are provided fair wages, decent housing, schools and access to health care, waste is managed efficiently, chemical use is dramatically reduced and relations with surrounding communities are strong.

Demand is growing for sustainable coffee, due in large part to better taste. Sustainable coffees are shade-grown, slowly, in carefully stewarded tropical environments, as opposed to clear-cut, full sun, faster growing varieties. Sustainable practices involve intense hand labour, natural pest control through biodiversity and careful matching of plant material and farming techniques to the local ecosystem.
